AyAy Meeting: Open Mic & Sober Night

We intend to create a space for people who are interested in or desire a sober / substance free environment to express, share and enjoy art, support in the lifestyle community. Come find creative inspiration and connection.

Located at The Rope Collective Studio in Barrio Logan.

If you have something you to share you will sign up when you arrive. Play music, spoken word, rap, poetry, present art, share a story, perform a monologue, bring your craft!

This is a kink friendly event so kink performance (rope, flogging, impact, etc) and discussion on kink topics is welcome. Please be prepared to enter the space from a place of informed consent, respecting boundaries, and adhering to our code of ethics/conduct.

The process of change is uncomfortable and can be confusing. Especially when mental health and substance issues are involved. We value the power of autonomy and confidentiality. Resource help and guidance are available upon request to help anyone be navigate the space, answer questions & concerns, and share resources for support in recovery and sobriety.

Guidelines

Please we street legal attire until you've entered the studio. Bottom under garments are required at all times within the studio. This is a substance/drug/alcohol free event. Please do not consume anything that will lead to inebriation or intoxication - medications/medicines are your respected privacy. If it appears that you are intoxicated, you will be asked to leave and come back another time. We are aware that different definitions of sobriety allow concessions with certain substances, however to be mindful of every definition, we ask you moderate or obtain for the evening.

This is not a 12 step meeting. This is not a recovery meeting. This is not intended to replace one or substance treatment.

Meet your hosts & facilitators: Zach (he/him) & Anna (she/her/they)!

Zach and Anna are Sex, Kink, LBGTQ, positive state certified substance abuse counselors who are trauma informed. Zach has been working in the Substance Abuse,Mental Health and Homeless fields for 4 years and Anna has been working in the mental health, addiction, and homeless fields for over 8 years. They are excited to facilitate a sober, inclusive, lifestyle/ kink event for this community!

We will also have TEA SERVICE by Carmen Elida @dualityheartwork !!
Carmen Elida is a Black and Mexican student herbalist, birthworker, artist, and storyteller residing on Kumeyaay Lands (so-called, San Diego, CA). She uses her herbal process and experience as a birthworker to explore questions around identity, liberation and community-centered care.

We’ll also have open mic extraordinaire Kovu @khalifa_kovu in the house! So tap in with him to sign up for the mic 🎤
