Our Mission
The Rope Collective is San Diego's first and only rope centric studio! We prioritize inclusivity, accessibility, and communal care. We provide education programs that focus on creating safer spaces for rope, performance/movement arts, and community building. We cultivate the agency and autonomy of our students and practitioners by providing an intentional space to learn, practice, perform and explore.

House Rules
Thank you for being a part of our studio and helping cultivate an intentional rope community, educational, and performance space here in San Diego.
As part of our commitment to building ethical connections, we have a few house rules that will allow us all to build a foundation that everyone can find safety within and we can build connections that are autonomous, consensual, and communal.
Please review the House Rules below and if you have any questions, you can contact us here.
Thank you,
The Rope Collective

PRACTICE AS ETHICALLY AND SAFELY at all times (make sure all risk profiles including the space/s are honored)
The House safe word is SAFE WORD - if you need help you can say this and a facilitator or organizer will come check in with you with safety sheers in hand.
INFORMED CONSENT No means no. No answer means no. Maybe means no for now. Unsure? Ask! (but never assume consent- explicit and enthusiastic only). The only thing that means yes is a YES! Disclose information and be honest about your skill level, desired intent, and the experience you'd like to have and respectfully receive information from others. Practice responsible photography. Do not take images/videos (even body parts) of people who have not given consent.
NEGOTIATION Every experience + each partner (new and well known) should begin with a negotiation and informed consent. Honor people's boundaries, requests, and needs. Collaboratively find options for areas/requests that you are unable to meet.
VETTING Do your own vetting. As a Collective, we amplify building your own agency and vetting those you choose to engage with inside and outside of our spaces and events. This includes potential partners, instructors, venues (even us!) If something arises, we are here to help you find options, resources, and support for resolution. If this is your first time or if you need help with vetting, ask a facilitator or organizer and we can talk you through vetting practices and encourage using as many different vetting techniques as possible to have a solid bigger picture of whether it is in alignment for you.
Honor BOUNDARIES by being respectful of other people's property, space/scenes, and personal bubble. If you need to interrupt or engage a scene, please find an organizer or host to assist you.
RESPECT THE SPACE by treating it with care. Pick up after yourself, sanitize + clean your area, tools, and gear borrowed, throw away trash. Be discreet in clothing and language outside the studio.
DRESS CODE You may be in any level of undress as you are comfortable in but please keep bottom undergarments on. Street legal is required in any visible areas (i.e. lobby / outside the studio.
Please review our CODE OF ETHICS on our website here.
If a problem arises inside the studio or in events we are associated in operating, please contact us for support.
